KICKED OUT!

A digital zine produced by Kickstand Comedy (one of the most magical places in all of Portland).

Kickstand is a community-driven, nonprofit theater transforming lives through comedy, with a focus on inclusive spaces and underrepresented voices. I’ve been an improvisor their for many years.

When the pandemic shut down our physical space, we channeled our desperate need for somewhere to be loud and weird into KICKED OUT! — a digital zine cobbled together from couches, kitchen tables, and that one corner of the apartment where Zoom actually worked.

The goal was to create a logo with a DIY feel, something that captured the feeling of getting “kicked out” of the theater. I used messy typography and a chaotic sense of motion to create a logo that feels both playful and defiant — a reflection of the zine’s spirit and the restless tone of the times.
