A digital zine produced by Kickstand Comedy (one of the most magical places in all of Portland).
Kickstand is a nonprofit theater with a mission to transform and enrich the lives of performers and audiences through comedy. They’ve done incredible work creating an inclusive space that amplifies underrepresented voices and diverse perspectives through dynamic programming and community outreach.
The goal was to design a logo with a DIY feel inspired by getting “kicked out” of the theater due to a pandemic. Using an abstract sense of movement and messy typography, I combined these concepts with the idea of speaking out and amplifying voices. The result is a playful yet defiant logo that speaks to the motivation of the zine and the restless tone of the times.
