A digital zine produced by Kickstand Comedy (one of the most magical places in all of Portland).
Kickstand is a nonprofit theater with a mission to transform and enrich the lives of performers and audiences through comedy. They’ve done incredible work to create an inclusive comedy space that amplifies underrepresented voices and a diverse range of perspectives through dynamic shows and community outreach.
The goal was to design a logo with a DIY feel, inspired by getting “kicked out” of the theater due to a pandemic. Using an abstract sense of movement and messy typgraphy, I combined these concepts with the idea of speaking out and amplifying voices. The result is a playful, yet defiant logo that captures the purpose of the zine and the emotive tone of the times.
